Does anyone have an idea of what a club coach makes for U11 and above team and U5-U10 and below team.

Re: Select/Club Coaches
4 or 5 years ago I was told it was between $1200 and $1500 a month for a club team with a full roster (per team) and for Academy it was something like $500 or $600. Others more in the know can chime in, but I think this is pretty close.

It's closer to $1000 per month per team for academy U5-u10 teams. Monthly dues are between 90-100 a month per player and rosters are typically around 10 or so. Don't know for older, but assume another $500 or so on top.

That's kind of like asking how much does a car cost? It could be a little, it could be a lot.
There is a wide variety of money being made based on size/type of club, level of the coach, etc.
I wouldn't concern myself with how much a coach makes as much as "how much am I paying?"

you are not saying at the academy coach makes $1,000 per month. Just that the team brings in about $1,000 per month.

Academy is typically about $100/month. Roster size varies with age and some teams carry more on bench than others. I would estimate about 14 players on U9 roster and 16-20 on U10 rosters. U10 rosters get deep because there will be inevitable losses at signing for Select so coaches have to hedge for that.
How much goes to the coach I have no idea.

My son played soccer at a small college and graduated and is now looking for a way to supplement his income by coaching a team or two. I am trying to determine what he might get paid for doing this.

Lots and lots and lots of people want to make money off of coaching here. If he wants to get any consideration at all he needs to start by getting licensed. If he doesn't AT LEAST have a "D National" license he's not going to have anything to get started with.
It would also help if he had some coaching experience. Has he coached before? If not, he should go to a nearby Rec association and ask for 1 or 2 teams. He won't get paid to do that work (as it is strictly against the rules on the Rec level) but he'll get lots of very valuable experience. If he gets two teams in consecutive years he can start even building his own club from the grass roots. It will give him a chance to establish his coaching style. He'll be able to begin establishing a reputation. (Any experienced coach will tell you that a good reputation in coaching is of utmost importance.) It will give him a chance to start seeing the players in his area. He'll be able to get to know more experienced coaches that can serve as mentors for him.
Everybody wants us to pay them to coach our kids. If you don't have a decent resume and a good history than your list of clients will be very very short.
And now I'm going to be offensive... If he really wants to be a coach, then he should be on this board asking questions, not his dad.

Not so sure if the rec route is the best route. Maybe do one or two seasons and then offer to volunteer as an asst. coach for a club. No one is going to hire someone because they have a licence and rec experience. Most club coaches turn up their noses like they just stepped in dog crap at the very mention of the word rec. The overwhelming majority of rec parents do not even consider select or academy as an option. Stepping right into a paying job coaching right out of college does not seem likely.

If a coach is given the choice between (1) Coaching for free in Rec or (2) Not coaching at all… you better hope your coach would choose option #1. I’m not saying there aren’t good coaches that are motivated by money. There are a lot of very impressive coaches in this area that do it for the money. I’m just saying that the best coaches would keep coaching even if there wasn’t money to be made. (Maybe they wouldn’t have 4 teams at once… but you get my drift.)
Coaches should be paid because they are talented and they have the ability to educate effectively. They can prove that with a solid resume, a good reputation, and decent experience. None of us should be paying a person to coach simply because they’re associated to a club.
There are a lot of very good coaches in this market. They are smart and ambitious people. Rookies have a tough time getting started which IMO is justifiable.
Starting in Rec is the easiest/quickest way to begin. For the most ambitious coaches (the coaches that want to start their own clubs) it’s the best place to start. You have an unending pipeline of new players available to you if you’re willing to start there. You just have to be willing to work harder than everybody else.
