    Sportsmanship

Post  madisonmyers on Mon Jan 23, 2012 10:39 pm

I've been out on youtube watching sports videos of insane parents tackling kids, refs, throwing punches...all kinds of crazy. There was a video I really want to encourage people to watch. It has some good ideas on how to control yourself on the field.

Sorry for being corny. I think it's a pretty great idea to give each parent a lollipop when you go to a game. So you have something in your mouth and can't yell. Would probably work out well.

One of my boys had a coach several years back ---> I acutally just messaged him on here. This coach had a preseason talk where he showed examples of embarrassing behavior. Unfortunately, my wife was not in attendacne at the talk and proceeded to embarrass me at the first game. We got it under conrtol quickly! hehe!

Yeah we had a video about coaching from the sidelines when our son was in rec soccer. The association had one game a season that was a "silent" saturday. The parents were not allowed to say anything other than encouraging statements...good kick, nice one, great job! Watching these videos made me completely realize that it's my responsibility to take control of my own actions and that if other people act poorly, I need to walk away.
