    Four '01 brackets.

Three '01 teams playing up in U12 division.

Bazan's '01 boys match up against Pino's '01 squad on Friday in the U12 Gold bracket. It promises to be a classic. Two skilled ball-possession teams.

I say 2-2 tie. I am going to watch the game before my BB team plays that night in another tournament.

I'm leaning towards a 3-2 victory by Bazan's boys. But a 2-2 is more likely in this leg of the mini "El Clasicó". It's only a friendly, after all.

The return leg of the mini "El Clasicó" will be during the Spring CL match. That game will much more meaningful.

Both squads play jogo bonito. It will be a very fun game to watch. A sneak peek of the futboleros that will roster a future FCD Academy team.

PG-Boy I thought you were a premier parent by some of your post in regards to the team. I guess I was terribly wrong. Both teams have great talent and play an attractive style. They would be really dangerous if they had a couple of players that had some true speed and also had some skills on the ball. IMHO.

Texans defeated both '01 FCD squads 2-1. Good team. They have speed and crushing size.

I am not sure that the poster above this quote (durty tackle) cared about DTred01. The question was posed about DTred00, as they played the top FCD 01 teams who were playing up in U12 division.

The FCD and FCD Premier '01 teams were competitive with the '00 classic teams they played (DTR Red '00 D1, Andro White '00 D2, Tejanos '00 D2) but they were not able to win or tie any of the games against these teams. They did stay within a goal or two in all cases.

I saw a couple of these games and the major difference was size. The FCD teams are skilled and quick, but very small in stature. The '00 teams they played were big and physical, and all had good speed. In this case the bigger teams had the advantage, even with the referees calling a conservative game in obvious attempt to prevent the smaller guys from getting injured. It appears the age difference is too much right now, but I am sure the '01's still got some benefit from playing the big boys.

Nice competition this weekend for these five teams at the southern end of the current D1 standings. Some of these matches were very physical.

There will be some intense games over the next 2 months as all these teams vie to not be regulated to D3 next year.
