Said the highschool coach. Not gonna say he is biased but...The highschool coaches could do a little less crying about the loss of their beloved AL players and spend a little more time developing their own. What about that kid in your school with the talent and potential that didn't have the years of select development. HS has the opportunity to reach a wider and often untapped pool of talent if they could just stop trying to focus on the same one as select. But then again, just like select it's all about the W&L. AL and select kids win games. Those other kids can get their life experiences somewhere else cause I sure don't want it on my HS team

I think what alot of these people keep forgetting is, if not for the limited slots available on high school sports teams, club soccer would not have a large percentage of their customer base. It addresses a need for a sport that may not be all that popular in school and gives kids who wouldn't ordinarily have an opportunity to play organized sports that chance. High schools will continue to produce what they're supposed to, I guess. Club soccer will, undoubtedly, keep changing the rules from time to time in an effort to become a viable part of the sports world that they just don't quite fit into yet. Unfortunately, as many have said, they have a ton of work to do and are not doing that well at it.

Go that is exactly what all the schools outside the upper middle class northern metroplex area do. Those have a few to half club players and try to develop the kids that are coming from the the rec, Y and hispanic leagues. It is all about economics. The poorer areas have few club players . The wealthier areas have all club players. A perfect example of that is 4A Aledo. Some do well, some are still pointy ball coaches and fail miserably. Starbuck, I do not know of a single club player that is not on a high school team. The only exceptions I have heard of is in the above mentioned area powerhouse soccer programs.

That's fantastic! Being on a high school team (even if it's not a powerhouse) will only make them become and feel more like athletes and certainly better select soccer players in the club world. Doesn't matter if they're not big public high schools. Heck, I would imagine even TAPPs schools can offer some level of benefit. That's probably the best part of club soccer. It motitivates them to keep trying for that upper echelon of high school athletics. Not getting there isn't bad...it's giving up that's bad.

not sure what exactly you are trying to say but im sure most if not all HS coaches will give a spot to a select/club player over any other player every time. i will agree with mr.go on this one saying that an academy player not playing HS is giving some kid a spot he probably wouldnt have if the DA player was there.

Agreed....and just because the youth might not have what it takes to make a high school sports team doesn't mean that club soccer doesn't provide many of the same mental and emotional, if not physical, advantages....if only on a smaller scale.

Nice video from the Club America Academy recognized Tony Santibanez from the AYSES 94 Gold team that plays in the Classic League. The Club America Academy filmed Tony and his AYSES 94 Gold team practicing at the AYSES Fairview Soccer Complex as part of this short video documentary of his training experience with the Club America Academy. Tony and his fellow AYSES 94 team mates are in process of making decisions on the next stage of their soccer development. A large number of this team plan to play soccer in college.
