With all the speculation surrounding the Aztecas using older,un rostered kids, they lay down against the Comets,with a tie hoping to fly back under the radar.
too late for them to fly under the radar. there were 2 classic league officials watching the game from the coaches sideline. not sure when they arrived and whether a roster check was performed. they had all of their big kids on the field and plenty of subs so it did not appear that their lineup was shuffled but who knows. the game was dominated by the wind just like everyone's game was. comets had wind the 1st half and scored on a pk. our parents sideline backed right up to the aztecas bench. i could clearly hear their coach talk to his team at half. he was completely calm and confident they would win. he told them we have scored a bunch of goals in every game and we will do it again with the wind this half. no talk at all of laying down. 2nd half was all aztecas. they peppered shots all half but only got 1 goal. comets goalie was under attack and made some good saves.
I think was a combination of an off day for aztecas, comets playing much better than expected this weekend, and the wind keeping anyone from playing any type of controlled possession game. even with the wind, most through balls rolled out of bounds or right to the goalie. the wind was so strong that several shots went right over the fences and just took time more time off the clock.
this is just my opinion based on what i saw and heard. I'm sure the conspiracy theorists will be all over this since classic league was there watching.
they have everyone's attention now, that much is for sure.
