    96 PPL1 Week of 11/7 Predictions/Scores

Post  swindler on Wed Nov 04, 2009 12:56 pm

For the week of games from 11/7 to 11/13

Odds of playing: 95%, Great weather in town, no rain possibility until late Sunday

    Saturday (11/7)
Solar Gold 1-2 TX Stampede; TXS inconsistent so far, but SG lacking quality win, could tilt the other way
CDI White 1-0 TFC Blue; Not enough offense from TFC to get past CDI
Liverpool 2-3 DFW Tornados Blue; Interesting matchup, think DFW is progressing faster
FCD Red 1-2 Inter-Milan; Should be good game, both play hard, but IM is deeper than FCDR
Genesis Elite 1-3 FCD White; Yawn

    Sunday (11/8)
Liverpool 1-1 CDI White; Not sure why I’m going this way, but I think LFC will come up big

    Solar G 0 - TXS 1
Solar will be missing a main defender... too much to overcome but they'll fight to the very end.

    CDI 2 - TFC 1
TFC playing better teams now... don't think they can hang with the pack.

    LP 0 - DFW Tor 1
Both teams have 1 player that can hurt ya. TOR is more balanced so they should pull ahead.

    FCDR 1 -Inter 2
GOTW... it would be good for the league if every team had a loss going into the Spring but I don't think Red has enough.

    Gen E 1 - FCDW 1
Both teams are struggling... this is a coin flip

    11/8
    LP 0 - CDI 2
LP has wins against Gen E and FCDW... stiffer competition on the way.

    Saturday Nov. 7

Solar Gold-? Tx Stampede-? I have no prediction on this game. The coach of solar knows that there will be a main defender missing but they have been practicing all week with possesion 3 fowards and 3 defenders. Could be dangerous or could back fire terribly.
CDI-2 TFC-0 TFC will be overwhelmed by CDI's strength.
Liverpool-1 DFW-1 Havnt seen DFW play so kinda hard to call.
FCD Red-2 Inter Milan-4 Red will struggle against a team that can play good possesion or play the long ball.
Genisses-0 FCD White-1 FCD White will do just enough. Whites keeper is by far the best player on the team.

    Sunday Nov. 8

Liverpool-0 CDI-3 CDI will dominate and destroy a weak Liverpool team. Liverpool are scared at the back and if put under a little pressure will kick the ball out or straight at the player. CDI will pressure hard and win.

I just noticed that PYSA appears to have rescheduled the remaining games to complete the fall season. PPL1 now has games into December. Poor Genesis Elite has evening games both 12/1 (Tue) and 12/3 (Thu). I hope for them we don't get a cold snap.

Swindler already stated the 3-3 game. What did you think about it though? Going down 2-0 early then coming back to lead 2-3 and then giving up a late, against the run of play, equaliser. Both teams thought they could win. Turns out neither of them could.

I was watching the Gen-FCDW, TFC-CDI, & Solar-TXS games all at once... and I didn't get the final for Gen-FCDW.
I watched TFC-CDI & Solar-TXS primarily. TFC does not have what it takes to get out of PPL this yr. They are good against the bottom half teams but the last 2 weeks speaks volumes.
Solar-TXS was entertaining. I think both teams are much better than what their records show. I guess TXS took the 1st half off b/c they out played Solar in the 2nd. Solar's #7 is fast & tenacious. Took advantage of mistakes made in the back & buried at least 2 goals I think. Solar would be a better team if they didn't force the kick ball game.

A game of momentum shifts, for sure. Both teams played fairly hard. I thought it was a fairly clean game. Ref let them play pretty much. Only one yellow on a late slide tackle.

Both teams had their moments. Toward the end, I thought TXS had enough advantage in the field play (and the goal lead) that they would win. SG hadn't had a serious chance late. In fact, in the minute of play before the final goal for SG, TXS had two quality chances in the box to put the game away, but neither shot had enough mustard to prevent the keeper from making two nice diving stops. It was his punt out from the second stop that caught the TXS defense too far up. Playing with a one goal lead in the final five minutes of play, I would have liked to see the defense be a little more conservative. Only two defenders were behind midfield, and one of them ran up to play the ball, but it got past him. That left one defender on a breaking #7, who made a couple nice moves to get his second goal.

But overall, it was a good game. Both teams made a statement. I'll look forward to the rematch in the Spring.

One of the best refs in plano but still had some questionable calls. But Solars coach went suicidal in the second half telling them not to go foward and to DEFEND DEFEND DEFEND. and they got punished because of that. Still pretty good. And as i already stated in the standings post, games will be close all year. Ill try and edit the standings after reesults are put in.
