The real shame of this is on the officials that let him run in an illegal uniform instead of checking uniforms before the race started and giving the kid a chance to fix it. In socer we are required to check the uniforms before the game starts, and since the rules are written by the same poeple, I suspect the state games would ahve this as a rule.
Shame on teh officials and the coaches on this one. Coaches should be current on rule changes, especially in such an important event.

These races typically can have 50-100 kids racing. Officials aren't going to check everybody. It was a ridiculous ruling.
