Now good time for me to rest my ears and watch good game with Ireland and Brasil. Too bad for Irish, they got raw deal for World Cop.

You should see Mr. Obarra coach mon, he treat kids and parents very well. He is soccer player and know how to develop young kittens. Your Kevan "Smudjar" Smith is too loud my boy get headache in 96 games all the time. Parents tell me to go away from Smudjar, he all about monies and is a snake oil salesmon, no develop kittens well enough.

Find a coach that you can afford and keep your kid skilled by working on the drills you see in practice. You only practice a few times per week, there is plenty of time for you to take your kid out for a spin. No need to negate coaches, they charge due to the number of people interested in their services. On the other hand, if you can find a coach that does it for reasonable/free that is an advantage in my opinion mate.

Get your team manager to log you into the site and see for yourself the list of accepted teams.

No I don't have a young lad that plays for him. I've been around a couple of years so I've seen this "douchebag" in action. He has a big bark but thats about it. He did tell me once that soccermoms really dig the screaming and yelling he does from the sidelines.

No wonder all those men keep their women at home when they play him. Is that why you think he's a douchebag because your wife digs his screaming? Or maybe it's just the accent?

Oh doesn’t Lepricons have a pot of gold….maybe he could use it to buy some fields for Solar.

Yes coaching(screaming) a U-11 team to the Classic League championship is quite an accomplishment. Now lets see how this team develops and improves relative to other teams over the next 4-5 years. I am sure the lot of the '98 will be over playing at Chelsea in a few years.

I usually agree with my friend The Needle, but this "thread" is starting to wear on me. The persistent (and completely inappropriate personal) attacks on this coach are becoming tiresome. Give it a rest and move on to other topics. Further, lets be honest, most of the most successful coaches in Classic league (including all three of the Texans top coaches) are all serious yellers. This coach is no worse than any of them. It is a style of coaching that works for some kids and not for others. If you are part of the "others", then dont have your kid play there. Ah, or perhaps that is what this thread is all about--the posters who keep bumping this thread with these attacks dont have kids strong enough to play there.
Or perhaps not. And if thats the case, their "point" has been made and its time to move on.

Kevin has a unique sideline manner for sure, and I'd argue that he is clearly the loudest around (other than that nut-case from Frisco AC back a few years). I've known many kids that like playing for his Solar teams. He has quality practices, and having spent considerable time at the old Solar complex can say I didn't see this side of him in practice.

I'd say the more important issues is not the volume but rather what is said and with what intent. There are far too many of our "top" coaches that I feel are poor influences on our kids. I say this based on having watched them literally chase kids away from the sport. It a tough thing to find a coach that has the experince/temperment/organizational skills to really make teams/clubs succesful and help the kids evolve over the years as players. Many do it through strong recruiting and "marketing tactics", as it is much easier and provides more immediate success. But hey we've all bought into it, right.

My boy coach is like a teacher, he coaches the game well without demeaning the team... you only need to yell if you are coaching in case boy don't hear u but you want to instruct player in terms of positioning themselves. I think Smudjar mon just likes to yell at anything during games. we hear him across 2 or 3 fields. I hope he okay with voice next year.

I agree with you since he is good soccer coach with many years of experience and awards to support him. On the other hand, I believe what you are not reading is the "INTEGRITY" of the man is being questioned due to the abundance of rumors spilling into the futbol community of what has been heard and seen in public. I have read posts here comparing to Tiger and/or Jesse James, etc but if you have a DD that coach took good care of during years of service your point here is well taken but it was the past and some people change.

I find smudgie quite entertaining, but then again it's not my bb he is yelling at. Wouldn't matter anyway, yelling is not the sort of thing that bothers bb at all. He was a huge castro fan who can be a bit of a yeller himself

My oldest bb played for this guy some years back. I would beg to argue that yelling and coaching are not one in the same. My son has very tough skin and was considered an above average player by KS, but there is only so much one should have to put up with. To have kids demeaned and treated disrespectfully to this degree was just not for us. My youngest ones saw this firsthand and didn't want any part of his teams and I am here to say there is life after Solar and we are all fine, developing, happy, and believe it or not, my bb's don't have to be cursed at or screamed at to bring out their best or be part of a coach whose moral character is questionable to say the least even obviously today based on what I am reading here. My soccer players look up to their coaches now as role models and I think that's how it should be. And that 98 paradise team everyone talks about I hear had a couple very good players walk out within the past year and that they are down to barely a full team, so somehow, somewhere, and for some reason players are seeking greener pastures. Maybe people are finally coming to their senses about what is tolerable and what is not.

Thank you so much for sharing this information, you wrote this paragraph perfectly and I don't know anyone that could have explained this any better. You are absolutely correct, and I wish you and your BB's good luck on the Pitch.
