By the way with so many teams do we know how the league is setting up the games ? Are there divisions ? Do they just pick randomly ?

These 19 teams gave themselves a power rating of 1, thus were all placed in this group of teams. The rest of the teams (not listed here) gave themselves a rating of 2 or 3 and were placed in a different group of teams.

The games were then scheduled at random by the SDL people within each group.

Thanks ! 19 teams for 20 spots in the first d1 season, so that's pretty much what the first year of the classic league should look like...

That's whats so great about SDL this season, all the top teams that will be in D1 next year are represented here. There are only a few more teams like FC Southlake, Texas Toros, & Tigres Academy who could be in the mix, but for the most part, this is it.

Tigres is an interesting one though, I know them:  my 00 boy played their 98 team in a final of the rec tournament of the Champion... very interesting game indeed...

Oh and I forgot about that 96 kid who was helping them too (and yes we are talking about a rec game for the 00 group !)

That's funny, I saw them in PAL in the fall and was wondering about a few of their players. Their 00 teams were getting their behinds handed to them every game during their U9 Spring season and all of the sudden during the fall their team was amongst the best.

There was one BB in particular who was wearing bright yellow shoes whom I swore had been playing for their 98 team, bet that was the same kid you're talking about.

Guys there are 2 tigres teams. Ortiz and De la Rosa. The team that was getting handled u9 had kids come from other clubs at desa to make the team more competitive. Out of both without a doubt the Ortiz is the strongest. As far as the kid with bright yellow shoes he's a legit u10 and not older. My son played for tigres and if you seen they had a girl playing for that team at u9.

Tigre...Yes I saw them play, that's why I mentioned them as a possible team to put in the mix for D1 next year. Yes I've seen that girl, she's actually better than many of the boys on that team, but will she be there when they try to qualify for Classic?
We'll wait and see about the kid we're talking about above come qualifying time. I'm sure opposing teams will be on the lookout for illegal players now.

BTW, one of the last times you posted you mentioned that Texas Toros had come to the breaking point. Did that club fall apart yet?

That team will not be there in classic or even close. The teams in sdl are too good. The team that has a chance is Ortiz.

As far as the Toros I said that as a joke!! Some people took it a little different that I intended it to sound like. That's why i didn't answer back.

You want to know the funniest part ? After that final of the 00 Rec tournament, during the trophy ceremony, the coach for the Tigres (by the way he nicely asked his players to clap and cheer for the loosing team that my son was in) came to our coach and told him that he would like to scrimmage against us regularly. He then added : Yes I also have a team of your age group !!!

Also I saw that same kid (I don't know if we are actually both talking about the same guy though), the one with the mustache play indoor in the 98 division with the Tigres. Even those 98 parents were complaining that he was older ! And there is not a single tiny doubt that this kid if more than 10. It is in his eyes in his muscle in his size, in his weight and in his mustache !

Rec tournament of champion in the 00 division later November early december. Final between Tigres and the Jaguars.  0-0 at half time. Tigres coach told his player to give every ball to that kid (who was positioned left defense) and asked the kid to go score. It was ridiculous. All they would do is get him the ball he would them muscle his way up there. The Jaguars were awesome to watch, one of those complete desperate fights were 2 ,3 4 guys would try to stop that kid. Fall down, cover each others, get up again to cover and fall again. They stopped him and stopped him again but obviously couldn't keep up physically and ended up talking a few goals in the second part of the second half. As I said the game was fantastic for the spirit they showed and the Tigres coach recognized that nicely by asking players and parents to clap for the Jaguars...Incredible memory for the parents and the kids the reason why sport in general and soccer specifically is so awesome.

We played the same Tigres team in the TOC and lost 1-0 with that kid scoring the only goal. That goal he scored was by taking a ball from close to the goalie box on their end all the way to our end by himself and scoring. The speed he had was unlike any of our kids (and we have decent speed on our team) and definitely unlike any on their team.

After the fact, we were told from different sources within DESA that they have in the past used older players in league play and tournament.

If it is true, then they are only fooling themselves and hurting their own kids in the long run. If they are not, then my apologies for bringing this up.

Rec Tournament of Champion. It is supposed to gather rec teams only. Each soccer association ends up sending their best team and all of them  (I guess the north texas area, you had a team for lubbock in there) competes during one Week-end. The jaguars are from CFBSA (carrollton farmers branch association) and has disbanded after that to in order to allow the players to get involved with select teams. That was their last game together after several years of playing together. My kid refused to hang the medal on his wall like the others and wore it every night for several weeks. He still gets it once in a while. Yep, the best that soccer can offer to a kid !

    Was this the tournament? http://www.gotsport.com/events/results.aspx?EventID=8546&Sex=Boys&Age=10

I believe this is Ortiz. They dominated the tournament.

They didn't dominate the tournament, that kid dominated the tournament. Did you catch the part where I said that the kid in question took the ball from their own defensive zone and scored?
We had them backed up in their defensive zone the entire game.
The ref, who was a 14 year old who didn't know the first thing about soccer nulled 2 goals that we scored. And I know that she didn't know anything about soccer because I asked her if she played club soccer and she said no.

As for the other games, this kid scored the majority of the goals. So the team didn't dominate, that kid did.

That's why i didn't answer back.
isn't the TX Toros team the one that use to be called Boca jrs? if so that coach(a DJ for a tejano radio station) had told me years ago that his team was the best 00' team out there and that they hadn't lost to any of the top teams(Bandits,Dynamo,DTR,Solar Red etc...) so what happened??? lol

Let me ask a question. One kid is better than a whole team? affraid

I'm just messing. I don't know about this team to say one way or the other but if he did this then why is he still coaching?

Without him there is no way the win that tournament.
Like I stated if he is of age, my apologies to that team and coach and great find as he is definitely a difference maker. If he's not, then shame on the coach and anyone else involved for allowing it.

Yes they are and yes the coach is a DJ on a show that plays Tejano, Hip Hop and many other genres of music on a community radio station. He still comes on every Friday and gives props to his team and tells them they are the best in Dallas. Nothing wrong with pumping up your own club and team.

So what happened, IMO everyone else has gotten better and his team stayed stagnant. He went on his own and formed his own club and is not getting the talent that everyone else is getting. He has to compete with Boca Jrs, Tigres, FC Dallas East and other independent teams in his area which makes it difficult to improve.

Are they a good team, yes, but they are not elite.

I believe this is Ortiz. They dominated the tournament.
Yes this is the correct tournament. My mistake: the team that Tigres beat in the final was the Bulls (my 2nd boy rec team) from Carrollton farmers branch (not the jaguars, that was my oldest son's rec team). The Tigres were good but Merlin is right, that kid made the difference, taking the ball from left defense in order to go score by himself not even looking around for support. Shame on the coach to allow that and to actually coach this way (it was clear that coming into the second half he asked all his player to give the ball to that guy); too bad for all the other parents that don't realize that this particular kid is limiting their kid's development and shame on daddy and mommy too to allow their own kid to play under.
