99 End of the seaon shuffling. How do you see that happen ?

Post  gababa on Mon Mar 01, 2010 10:02 am

The end of the season is approaching, we are beginning to see a lot of posts and hear a lot of talks about finding the right team/coach for little Johnny. Some parents already know their current team won't make D1. And obviously there will only be 10 D1 teams. So, how do you see the big shuffling happening ? Everybody playing nice or blood bath ? Individual choices or groups of kids moving around ? Transparency or complete darkness ? Last minute type of decision or long process ?

I feel like ntx soccer is an ongoing episode of Survivor...making alliances, saying one thing to teammates but in reality probably doing another come July 1...Is D2 really that bad, enough to bail out your team and take your son to a team where he doesn't know anyone and you won't know if the grass is really greener until after you've signed.

Good point and having said that, please come to our team, we NEED your money!!!!

How about we rebel, screw this Classic Survivor League, and start a 7 v 7 league of our own, at least for a year or two. Who's in?

Ha ha. Very true. Axx, I'm with you on the money issue. I am in favor of middle school soccer.

Within a club it should be fairly easy and transparent because everybody knows everybody, and everybody talks. Players can guest play with other teams in the same club in May and June without any problems.

Across clubs is the hard part. What are the rules? When can a player from one club officially guest play, practice or do skills with another club - in other words, go shopping? Is it June 1st, July 1st, or some other date?

9999999999999999999, at this point, everyone knows everyone, so the kids should be fine, wherever they end up.

Starting June 1, you are allowed to practice with other teams without a release form. Prior to June 1, a release form is required. If you wish to play with another team in June (i.e. Tournaments) a release is required regardless.

My only advice for all of you is to make sure that you are having an ongoing dialogue with your coach. Even though nothing is etched in stone until July 1, if your coach is reasonable, you should be able to get a good feel as to whether your BB is on the bubble.

Always look out for numero uno and don't assume anything. Especially if you are a D1 team near the top, it's very cutthroat. Lots of parents want to be on a winning team, and coaches want to put together the winningest team they can. If this means last minute stealing kids from other teams, reneging on previous "gentlemens agreements", breaking hearts of 11 year old children, or whatever. That's life in NTX soccer, for better or worse.

PS: It goes both ways. Parents reneg on coaches just as much as the other way round.

I think for the most part the big clubs will keep their core play makers for stability but you are naïve to think that there will not be additions and/or movement of players across the big clubs to strengthen their line ups for the following season. There will be a few surprises coming just wait and see.

Would not be a surprise then if I or anyone else put it out there The season is almost over and opportunities to guest play in upcoming tournaments is near. The sightings of other players on other rosters will increase and no sooner then that you will see them at tryouts and practices for other teams

Boys cant play, practice or tryout for other teams until June, that is 3 months away.
But they can guest play in tournaments at any time if their current coach signs the realease, good luck with that.

French. Of course. I tried a Trio of Trois and was quite pleased with the taste. Thanks for the rec. Recently back on the Chilean Concha Y Toro. Affordable table Red. Lent? Sinner. Cheers!

More like a thread killer than a hijacking. But while you're at it finish, go for a little Catena Zapata or Altos de Hormigas. Doesn't quite need the "air" that the French does, if you know what I mean. But you can't go wrong with the Chilean either.

Big fan of the Zapata winery. The Catena Cab is a great value. Full and smooth. Great way to get through the sophomore shuffle at the end of this season. Want to wreak havoc on the system. We could all skip Classic next Summer and form a league at one or two of the outdoor facilities. Have names like the Soccer Freaks. That would be great. Then, the clubs would all beg for us to come back. That would hurt.

    finish 1,
Appreciate the plug! I think you meant "game' like the Soccer Freaks. We plan on being at it again. A few changes coming, love tough "players". PM Axxman for details. I think you wine affecionados know each other. Try the Greek variety-Demestica (very dry and inexpensive). Enjoy!

No, it means you have to attend the Cardwell fitness class over Spring Break. I hear your kid can turn pro by the end of March. Axx, that's one way we can say goodbye to Classic. Who would have guessed the answer was so obvious...

Not that far fetched.$ 2,000 a year x say 40 kids, x 2 years Thats $ 160.000 . That could buy a nice little 2.5 acre parcel . Play pick-up all day sat and make teams to tournament play. And the kicker!! In 10 years after it's doubled we could sell it and have a nice little fund, for college. Lets put togeather a co-op
Guarentee one thing . With no scores. no structure, and no standings the bb's would most likely be alot more creative.

So what does your BB do in the summer? Does your team play indoor or futsal? Do you have your BB do extra camps....and if so, which ones?
