99 The way I see it....

Post  rip on Thu Mar 04, 2010 1:27 pm

....its a pretty big weekend! Texans, Andro and Texans South have wrapped up D1. I'll go ahead and call D1 for Comets Blue, as well. Solar Red and FC Dallas still have some work to do, and 6 points this weekend would just about do it for both. Red has a hell of a 4 game stretch to finish the season and I'm sure Nuno doesn't want to go into his last 3 games (against FC Dallas, Texans and Andro) needing 3 points. That Solar Red vs. FC Dallas match next week looms large on the horizon.

Club Classic, Solar, Barcelona, Chivas, Gunners, Madrid, Fort Worth and Azzurri are basically battling for the last 4 D1 spots. With 10 head-on clashes left between these 8, and another 7 against top 4 teams, its way too early to say what will happen. And that doesn't even take into account Mother Nature, the flu bug and the North Texas officiating grab-bag!

This weekend should separate quite a bit of chaff, with 10 match-ups between these 14. Including 4 head-to-heads among those battling for those last 4 spots, and 4 between battlers and the top 3. Comets try to make a run for the top of the hill, while Azzurri really must have 6 pts if they are to thrust themselves into any kind of contention for a D1 spot. ASG Gold and FCD South could also make statements, not to mention possibly open up 2 more D1 spots, with big weekends, but they are probably relegated to the role of spoilers through the rest of this season.

No predictions (I'll leave that to the experts), but here are this weekend's most intriguing match-ups with an eye on the D1 food chain.

    Saturday, 3/6
    Comets vs. Texans
    Madrid vs. Azzurri
    Club Classic vs. Chivas
    Solar vs. Andro
    FCD vs. Texans South

    Sunday, 3/7
    Comets vs. Andro
    Chivas vs. Solar Red
    Solar vs. Azzurri
    FWFC vs. Texans South
    Gunners vs. Madrid

No assumptions. I took my hot-tub time machine for a whirl last night, so I'm fairly secured in my statements.... which, by the way, clearly stated that I feel Comets Blue will make D1 and that Solar Red has some work to do. I think I also mentioned Solar Red's schedule specifically as a point of emphasis for how secured they are in their D1 quest.

Do you actually feel secured that you comprehend the posts you reply to, or do you just type responses so you can see yourself on the internet?

I see the infamous is back and with a nice post full of in your face facts. Welcome back!

    I'll take a stab at your weekend key games;

    Saturday, 3/6
    Comets vs. Texans - Texans
    Madrid vs. Azzurri - Tie
Club Classic vs. Chivas - Chivas
Solar vs. Andro - Andro (being biased here, a tie would be more like it based on stats).
FCD vs. Texans South - South

    Sunday, 3/7

    Comets vs. Andro - Andro
Chivas vs. Solar Red - This should be a hell of a game given the ups/downs of both, too close to call.
    Solar vs. Azzurri - Solar
FWFC vs. Texans South - Texans South
    Gunners vs. Madrid - Gunners

So is the magic number 30 or does that number change up or down depending on how close in points teams are, or there is no magic number it's just the 10 teams with the most points, may even be less than 30. - seems with so many teams close to getting the last 4 spots that number 30 may be higher. Or there may be many teams with the same points and then how do they decide - head to head, GD...

30 is what I currently have projected as the point total for the last team (actually last 2) in, but you're right that that is variable (dependent on results) and doesn't really matter -- the top 10 are in. I would not be at all surprised to see several teams tied in points for that last spot on 3/28. That could be a very bitter pill to swallow for whoever ends up on the outside looking in.

I don't know. I have had several parents tell me that they hope to be in D2 rather than the bottom of D1.

Cool, can those teams kindly lose the rest of their games, that way my team is a shoe in for D1

    From the Classic League website:

    End of Season/Year Tie Breakers/Placement
[size=12]. If two (2) or more teams are tied in the number of points, the tie will be broken as follows:
    1. Overall team goal differential.
    2. Total goals scored.
    3. Board decision.
NOTE: In the event a game or games have been forfeited, if any tied team played an opponent that forfeited to another or other tied team(s), then all games against that opponent will be omitted before applying the above tie breaker rule.

That last weekend does present some very interesting match-ups for some teams that, right now, look to be cutting it a little close.

    Saturday, 3/27
    FC Dallas vs. Texans
    Solar Red vs. Andro Red
    Solar vs. Texans South
    Gunners vs. Barcelona

FCDallas(Suarez) better win one this weekend or I am calling them done. Will get one more win against Blue which would give them 27pts. Not enough! FCDallas could have d2 next year all to themselves. In the end I think out of the top 11 Chivas gets left out.....

    Here are my predictions for how it finishes up, barring big upsets and being a little conservative;

    1. Craft - 55
    2. DTS - 47
    3. Andromeda - 43
    4. Comets - 37
    5. Solar Red, Barcelona, Gunners - 32
    8. Suarez, FW, Chivas - 31

    11. Solar - 28 (out)
    12. CC - 26 (out)
    13. Atletico - 25 (out)

I wouldn't stick a fork in them, yet, if I were you. They'll make D1, and they won't struggle next year because FCD will do it right and have one strong team next year.

FW should beat CC, DTR, and Blue. It will come down to how they do against Figo.
The other game that is huge this weekend is Solar vs. Andro. If Solar loses that one, they will be in trouble.

FWFC will get it done and so will Barcelona! and i agree with Axx if Solar(crawford) loses then they could be in deep! FCD(Suarez) will get it done this weekend and not have to worry against SR or Texans(craft)

You people are either clueless or have a FWFC bias they have NO SHOT... I REPEAT NO SHOT...Their defense is suspect at best and that is what it comes doewn to in D1U11 soccer or World Cup Soccer. No chance period!

LOL they can very easily win 4 out of the last 5 games so get a clue dude! and their defense is not suspect it's more like their style of play is typical "NTX Aggressive" whch tends to leave the defense a little "thin" but not suspect!

Omega- You don't watch much soccer. Have seen them play twice and they don't play defense ATALL...Talk to me after this weekend and tell me about that 4 of 5 and let's talk who is clueless.
Go back and look at my Gunners in D1 Post and Fcdallas(SUAREZ) not making it and let's see who is clueless.

Club, you need to have a drink, relax would ya. If defense is what D1 soccer is all about, why is Solar Crawford not in 2nd place, with only 8 goals against?
FW may have a suspect defense, but they are aggresive, and have a couple players that are faster than fast. I watched them play against Atletico last weekend and they are not a bad little team. Why are you so against them making it anyhow? I still think they can easily win their last 3, and that alone puts them at 28. The game against Figo is what may be the difference, and Figo has been playing well.
Good luck to all tomorrow amigos!

If there is one team I would love to see in d-1 it would be fwfc. Would love to see the big mouth in the middle demoralized week in and week out. The team I also see as suspect is CC. Not pickin on them but there is no way they should be where they are with as many goals as they have givin up . Our team has givin up alot , but our standing reflects this , theirs does not.
